A few weeks ago, when the heat in Dubai had subsided for an afternoon, I took a walk down by the Creek. It's a lovely area of Dubai, one of the few areas that gives you a more rustic, traditional feel, away from the modern man-made sky-scrapers. The boats, or dhows, are really quite something - often painted in bold colours, they add a pop of brightness to the otherwise dull port. You can see more Creek pictures that I took a few months ago, here.

For this shoot I decided upon a relatively simple outfit, with a hint of colour to give it a bit of a lift. Being blonde, you can never really go wrong with beiges, golds and shimmers. I love my cream Zara trousers, as they can go with just about everything, they're definitely part of my 'staple wardrobe' items. So, I thought let's go simple-pimple today and just illustrate what a colourful scarf can do to add a bit of something to your everyday wear.

I bought this particular scarf while in Istanbul, Turkey. They had rows and rows of soft, colourful scarves, you just did not know which to choose! What I liked about this one was the fact that it was the right length to throw over your shoulders, but thin enough to tie around your neck or in your hair, as I chose to this time. Growing up in a desert climate, I never used to wear scarves, but throughout university I couldn't live without them. In fact, my mum used to ask why I still wore them in Dubai when I was at home for holidays! I had just become attached and felt like they were a part of my daily look.

For these shots, we tried out my new 24-70mm lens - exciting!! It's a fantastic piece of equipment, so glad to have it. Although I might've change the time of day that I took these photos - I found the light a little too harsh on the skin - I loved the effect of the sunshine against my hair. As a photographer, I like shooting against the sunlight a lot, so decided to pose myself that way this time and see what effect it would have. One of my earlier shoots when I was behind the camera, photographing my gorgeous friend Olivia, I played around shooting her against the Greek sushine - check it out here.

Enjoy!!
